Naples Cathedral Terraces Tickets
What Will You See on The Terraces of the Naples Cathedral?
You’ll begin the tour on the ground floor of the cathedral, in the historic Chapel of the Illustrious, originally dedicated to Saint Paul and designed between 1308 and 1320 by Archbishop Umberto d’Ormont. Before beginning the ascent, you’ll be able to admire two masterpieces of Trecento painting:
- The Tree of Jesse: an imposing fresco attributed to Lello da Orvieto that depicts the genealogy of Christ.
- The Stories of the Passion of Christ: a pictorial cycle clearly influenced by Giotto and the Avignon School, located next to the entrance to the terraces.
Climbing to the Naples Duomo: 360° Views
As you ascend toward the exterior walkways, you’ll discover parts of the cathedral that were previously hidden, such as the remains of the 15th-century dome or a suspended false dome that showcases the architectural mastery of the era.
Upon reaching the top, you’ll walk along the cathedral’s elevated walkways at a height of 40 meters. From there, you’ll enjoy an unparalleled view stretching from the historic center of Naples to the sea, with the imposing silhouette of Mount Vesuvius silhouetted against the horizon. Photo opportunity!
